May 15, 2014 Meeting
We had interesting discussion recapping the legislative session and looking at what's happening with special ed funding.
As a result of legislation, Andover Public Schools lose $400,000 in budget authority. The board of education has the authority to increase the LOB (Local Option Budget) by 2% to make up for the loss. This is a one year LOB increase to 33%. Extending the 33% LOB beyond one year requires a mail ballot to all registered voters in the school district. Difficult budget decisions ahead for the board and administration to meet the learning needs of all our students.
